In the industrial production of self-adhesive products such like stamps, labels, stickers, Post-its®, etc., glues (hot-melt, polyurethane (PUR), or dispersion) present an essential binding agent. After having glued the spine or sides, the products are cut to size. Often, the glue has not yet hardened before the cutting operation and sticks to the knife (plane side and bevel side) during cutting. This puts a heavy strain on the cutting edge, glue piles up with each cut and has a negative effect on the cutting quality.
In such a case, the knives are usually cleaned using oils or solvents whereby the working process is prolonged and productivity diminishes. Incorporated spraying units which often use silicone oils provide for remedy to a certain extent. However, the lubricating emulsion leaves behind a greasy layer on the knife surface depending on the intensity of the spraying intervals. As a consequence, the user has to replace the knife prematurely after only a few cutting operations.
The TKM Anti Glue Knife simplifies the processes of the printing house and increases its efficiency considerably. The Anti Glue Knife is provided with a non-stick coating in the vacuum furnace. The polished surface of the TKM cutting tool features a low coefficient of friction and at the same time a clearly reduced adhesion – also after coating.
