Dull Blade

There are different reasons why it can be difficult or impossible to regrind the blade to a proper sharpness:

• The grinding wheels are loaded up ( see next page) => dressing of the wheels on a regular basis
• The blade has a double bevel due to wrong adjustment of the grinding wheels before (see next page) => manually grind until the grinding wheels got the blade back to a single bevel.
• The grinding wheels have too little grinding pressure (adjustment wrong, pneumatic cylinders defect, etc.) => readjust the pressure and make sure that all parts operate correctly. Check the ratchet frequency and distance settings.
• The grinding bevels are too high (for example 20° instead of the recommended 14° - 15° (see other page) => Reset the bevels OR, on newer machines, the customer need to contact the OEM to inquire about a - 15° motherplate.
